Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this an outdoor theatre?
A: Yes, we are located in the fresh outdoors! Perchance Theatre is an Elizabethan style theatre, modelled after Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, England. There is a sailcloth roof that covers the audience area, so you're not totally exposed to the elements. Being Newfoundland, we always recommend that you come prepared for all weathers. Don't forget your rain jacket, hat, sunscreen and bug spray! We also encourage people to bring any pillows and blankets with them if they'd like to bundle up and stay comfy on our wooden bench seating.

Q: Is this a dinner theatre?
A: No, Perchance Theatre is not a dinner theatre and currently there are no food options onsite. A coffee shop is available at the Cupids Legacy Centre during business hours. Due to mask restrictions, no food can be consumed in the theatre this year.

Q: What is being done to keep me safe from COVID?
A: Perchance Theatre takes the safety of their company and audience very seriously. Working in conjunction with provincial public health departments, we are confident we have addressed all your concerns.
  • Audience will be masked at all times while on theatre property, including throughout performances.
  • Sanitization stations will be set up at all entrances and exits as well at washroom facilities.
  • Actors will be unmasked for performance only.
  • All crew and Box Office staff will be masked at all times.
  • If audience member feels unsafe prior to performance, ticket will be refunded.
Q: What kind of seating is there? Can we bring our own chairs?
A: The seats are wooden bench-style in the round. Because of COVID restrictions, we are unable to provide soft cushions to sit on so we highly encouraged you to bring your own cushions for extra padding! We don't allow people to bring their own chairs unless they should need it for medical reasons, as we must maintain distancing in the pit area for the performance. There is a designated accessible seating area able to accommodate three wheelchairs.

Q: How do I get tickets?
A: Once tickets are available for the season, they can be purchased online or by phone through our Box Office. The phone number is 709-771-2930 and links will be posted to the home page as soon as they are available.

Tickets can also be purchased at the door. The onsite Box Office opens one hour prior to showtime.

Q: How much do tickets cost?
A: There are three different price points on our tickets:
  1. General Admission: $38, plus tax and service charge
  2. Senior (65+) & Students: $33, plus tax and service charge
  3. Ages 15 & Under: $15, plus tax and service charge
Tickets may be purchased using VISA, MasterCard, or cash.

Q: Do you cancel shows for rain?
A: The show must go on! However, sometimes it happens if the weather is particularly terrible. If we do cancel a show, we post on our website and all of our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) two hours before the show. Those who had purchased tickets for that show date will be contacted to arrange either a refund, or moving the tickets to a different date.
