ASL Interpretation & Relaxed Performances

ASL Performance of As You Like It

ASL interpretation was provided during the performance of As You Like It on August 22nd at 2pm.  Here Heather Crane and Sheila Keats, freelance interpreters, relate that experience:

Perchance Theatre company was a fantastic whirlwind experience with the upmost professional group. When contacted to provide accessibility to the Deaf community the short timeline of two weeks was looming to complete the performance. In normal circumstances this would not be possible however we buckled down as a team and worked day and night for a community we cherish. We made the impossible, possible! The hard work paid off for all, the audience members, local and visitors, experienced the lively theatre spirit and the entertainment of Shakespeare! We are already planning for bigger and better in the upcoming 2022 season, well in advance!

Relaxed Performance Details
During the 2021 Season, Perchance Theatre added two relaxed performances: Hamlet (August 25th at 2pm) and As You Like It (August 26th at 7pm)

Relaxed performances aim to create an accessible environment to welcome theatregoers with varying needs. During our relaxed performances of Hamlet and As You Like It, audience members were welcome to stand up, move, and exit/return to the theatre as needed. Before the relaxed performances began, a member of our team demonstrated all weapons that were used in the productions and noise levels were reduced.
