WELCOME TO THE SHAKESPEARE 2020 PROJECT

Want to read the Bard’s works in 2020, or just a few plays or poems? Join the Shakespeare 2020 Project! (Ian Doescher)

This as a public reading group. Read the complete works throughout the year, or just drop in for your favorite plays or poems. You can choose to receive emails (never more than two per week, promise!) with updates on what we are reading, what is coming next, and so on. Along the way, we’ll have videos, artwork, film recommendations, and more about the Shakespearean works we encounter together. All are invited, at any level.

Ian Doescher

Dear friends,
We have reached the end of the Shakespeare 2020 Project—or at least the end of the original year. Before we close, I want to say thank you to each one of the 6,000 or so of you who joined this year, whether you've been with us the whole time or whether you joined this week. When I started the Shakespeare 2020 Project, I had no idea how many people would join and how rich and rewarding the reading, video introductions, and online discussions would be. Thank you for becoming a community of supportive and positive people who gathered around a shared interest and enriched each other. Obviously, this year was not what we, as a world, expected it to be. Your participation in the Project meant the world to me, and together we helped each other make it through a difficult year.

It's been fun to see how the group is evolving into different groups and coalescing around other interests. I look forward to the evolution of the Shakespeare 2020 Project as a smaller group of us embark on reading the histories next year, and I hope I'll see the rest of you around the internet. Hopefully, one day, I'll get to meet each one of you and raise a glass over what we accomplished together in 2020.

Cheers, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Ian
